What is Indian Head Massage?
Indian Head Massage is a holistic
therapy that can balance body, mind and spirit and is an invaluable
way to rebalance and encourage healing as well as being used as a
preventative tool against disease. Indian Head Massage involves
massage of the upper back, neck, shoulders, head and face and is
usually performed through clothing, while the client is seated. Oils
may be used if the client prefers, but they are not necessary to
obtain the full benefit of this treatment. Indian Head Massage has
evolved from a technique practised by families all over India as
part of their everyday life into a very comprehensive, popular and
fast growing therapy worldwide.
Despite the name, it's much more than 'just a head massage' - it
also works on the upper back, shoulders, arms, neck and face,
incorporating over 60 stress relief points to release the stress
that has accumulated in the tissues, muscles and joints.
What does Indian Head Massage involve?
The client, fully clothed, sits in a massage chair for the treatment. The therapist uses a range of different movements including application of deep kneading and compression movements over the neck, shoulder and scalp areas. In addition, the therapist will also gently stimulate and stroke pressure points on the face.
What are the Benefits of Indian Head Massage?
Indian head massage is especially good for relieving stress, tension, fatigue, insomnia, headaches, migraine and sinusitis. Clients report that the experience is deeply calming and relaxing, leaving them feeling energised and revitalised and better able to concentrate.
Indian head massage helps increase joint mobility and flexibility in
the neck and shoulders, improves blood circulation and lymphatic
flow, frees knots of muscular tension, relaxes connective tissue,
and aids in the elimination of accumulated toxins and waste
products. It is particularly good for reducing the effects of stress
and tension.
